either EmailXtender or Symantec Ent. Vault for Domino are much better then native domino archiving

there are many advantages of using 3rd party solution over native Domino archiving, here is few reasons:
- both Symantec EV for Domino and EmailExtender EMC leave stub/pointer in mailbox and archive email to external storage, much more user fraindly then Domino archiving
- both solutions do much better email compresion then Domino nativly so you save space additionally if you have emails sent to entire company with attachment since this is same email EmailXtender will store only one copy of this email in storage and stubs in user mailboxes

- usually these 3rd party solution hav ealso more rubost and rich policy settings so you can slice and dice how you want to archive and where archive files will go, external storage does not have to have Domino running on the server so i.e. you can store archibe email on file server or SAN.

- finally if you have in the future need for additional features i.e. tracking every single email for complaience reasons you can do this with same software just need additional licenses for particular feature
